Red Stag Hunting in Romania
The Voice of the Carpathians
Experience one of Europe’s great hunting traditions in the wild forests and mountains of Romania. During the rut, the roar of the red stag carries through the valleys of the Carpathians — creating a hunting experience that is as much about the moment as the trophy.

The Experience
When the Carpathians Come Alive
There are few sounds in European hunting as unmistakable as the roar of a red stag during the rut.
Before daylight, accompanied by an experienced local hunting guide, you enter the forest and listen. The terrain, the wind and the calls of the stags determine the approach. Every hunt develops differently.
This is not simply a pursuit of a trophy. It is an opportunity to experience the Romanian Carpathians at one of the most dramatic moments of the year — when mature stags compete, the forests echo through the early morning and every approach demands patience.
The Red Stag Rut
A Hunt Defined by Sound
September transforms the Carpathian forests. The legal season for trophy males runs from 10 September to 15 November; selection males from 1 September to 31 December; females and calves from 1 September to 15 February.
As the rut begins, mature stags become increasingly vocal and active. Their calls can carry across valleys and forested slopes, allowing the hunting team to locate animals and carefully plan an approach.
The experience often begins before sunrise. Listening, observing and moving according to the terrain and wind are all part of the hunt. There are no guarantees in truly wild hunting — and that uncertainty is precisely what gives the experience its character.
